Nuanquan Town, Yuxian County has a long history and profound cultural heritage. It is located in the west of Yuxian County, Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province. In addition to folk customs such as lantern festivals and paper-cutting, the people of Nuanquan Town in this county have also inherited the only unique skill in the country for more than 500 years-"beating trees and flowers". During the Spring Festival, there was a grand occasion of "100,000 people admiring trees and flowers" in Yuxian County. "Dashuhua" expresses people's good wishes to celebrate festivals and yearn for a sweet life.
The protagonists of the "Striking Tree Flowers" performance are four artists wearing straw hats and sheepskin jackets on the back. Two of them are surnamed Wang, one is surnamed Zong, and the other is surnamed Liu. That outfit was for protection against burns. On the nearly 10-meter-high city wall behind the folk artist performing "Shuhua", you can see spots of rust, which are the traces left by the previous tree flower. After the hot molten iron was poured into the basin in front of the city wall, a master came on stage. In order to create a more lively scene, the performers will pour a few spoonfuls of molten iron one after another while the previous fireworks are not over, so that the sparks will come and go in a well-arranged pattern, presenting a unique visual feast to people. Wearing sheepskin jackets and bamboo hats, the performers of "Striking Trees and Flowers" used special wooden spoons to splash molten iron melted at high temperature on the hard city wall. The molten iron at more than 1,600 degrees Celsius hit the cold city wall, splashing bright lights. The blossoming sparks are strung together to form a tree crown, and then disappear into the dark night in an instant. The performers will create a new round of sparks before the sparks dissipate, and the continuous sparks form a golden "flower rain", bringing warmth to people in the cold winter.
