The nun temple in Linzhou County is located in Guoji Village, Qiangga Township, about 25 kilometers away from the county seat and about 90 kilometers away from Lhasa. The nun temple was built in the 12th century. The founder is Geshe Xiarewa of the Gelug Sect of Tibetan Buddhism Master, currently the temple enshrines Master Geshe Sharewa.
According to local legend, three girls came to the temple to worship Buddha. Because there was no place to live at night, the three girls chanted a spell to turn the temple into a nun temple. Today, there are dozens of nuns and 108 pagodas in the temple.
