Tingming Lake is located in the northeast of Pianma Town, Lushui County, 600 meters away from the Fengxue Pass of Gaoligong Mountain. It is an ice-eroded lake formed by the erosion of ancient glaciers. Tingming Lake has low water temperature, high altitude, clear water and excellent water quality. It is the source of Tingming River.
Tingming Lake is surrounded by dense forests, a large sea of rhododendrons, primitive bushes and arrow bamboo forests. In the forest, there are nationally protected rare animals such as gray-bellied scorned pheasant, mountain donkey, golden monkey, red panda, and antelope. The scenery of the Lake District changes with the seasons. In spring, melted water from snow-capped mountains pours into the lake, and rhododendrons adorn the surrounding mountains.
