Phoenix Mountain is located in the middle of Yan'an City and is one of the "Four Famous Mountains" in Yan'an. Phoenix Mountain is 1132 meters above sea level, and you can enjoy a panoramic view of Yan'an when you climb the mountain. Fenghuang Mountain is the main support of Yan'an City, and the city defense fortifications of all dynasties were built on the east slope and side of the mountain. The ancient ruins on the mountain include Zhenxi Tower, Wenchang Pavilion, Liulang Village, Diqing Village, and the Zhuanbing Cave dug and built by Yang Liulang (Yan Zhao) in the Northern Song Dynasty. According to textual research, the ancient city wall built along the mountain was first built in 215 BC and has a history of more than 2,000 years. It is the earliest city defense construction in Yan'an, with a large scale and relatively complete preservation. In recent years, with the urban construction and development of Yan'an, Phoenix Mountain has changed from a barrier in the northwest of Yan'an City to a mountain city park in Yan'an City, and is now part of Yan'an National Forest Park. Today, the stone path on Fenghuang Mountain is secluded, the shade is refreshing, and the pavilion is facing the wind. It has become a sightseeing area for climbing high and looking far.
