Pianguan Laoniuwan Scenic Spot is located at the junction of Shanxi Province and Inner Mongolia, bounded by the Yellow River, with Pianguan County in Shanxi to the south and Qingshuihe County in Inner Mongolia to the north. The Meng Grand Canyon starts here and is one of the ten most beautiful canyons in China. The entire Laoniuwan tourist area is composed of Baozi Tawan, Laoniuwan, Sizuotawan and Yangjiachuan Small Canyon.
The Great Wall and the Yellow River intersect here. In the Ming Dynasty, it was a castle for stationing troops. On the cliff close to the Yellow River in Laoniuwan Fort, there is a hollow enemy building made of bricks that is still well preserved—Wanghe Tower. One of the famous scenic spots in Pianguan.
Climbing to the high place of Baozi Tower Bay, you can have a panoramic view of the beautiful scenery of the Yellow River's nine bends and eighteen bends. It is most appropriate to describe the Baozi Tower as "the cliffs are like cutting monkeys, and the birds are not over the mountains and rocks." The Yellow River turns back here, turns a nearly 360° round bay, and encloses it into a peninsula. Some people vividly call it "China's Colorado". This is the most fascinating part of the entire canyon.
The four tower bays have a typical mountain village scene in the northern Shanxi region. Farmers are working hard in the tens of thousands of hectares of terraced fields directly into the clouds. The four tower bays in this situation give people a very soft and beautiful feeling, which makes people linger.
Yangjiachuan Small Canyon has a total length of 8 kilometers, along which runs a unique landscape composed of the Great Wall, ancient castles, ancient villages, ancient temples, plank roads, and docks.
