Guangsheng Temple is located in Liang Village, Yuebi Township, southeast of Pingyao County. It was originally Zhenwu Temple, and it is impossible to verify when the temple was founded, but from the existing inscriptions in the 13th year of Daoguang in the Qing Dynasty (1833), we can know that the temple has been inclusive of Buddhism and Taoism since ancient times. It was rebuilt during the Yongzheng and Daoguang years of the Qing Dynasty. However, after the thirteenth year of Daoguang (1833) in the Qing Dynasty, the vicissitudes of a hundred years left the ancient temple with no holy images and the temple was destroyed. In 2002, the temple was rebuilt. The top and ridge of the main hall were decorated with colored glaze and bordered with yellow colored glaze. With reference to the old system, the gold-made holy statues were rebuilt. The main hall is called the Great Compassion Hall, and inside are three statues of Manjusri, Samantabhadra, and Avalokitesvara. There are side halls on both sides of the main hall. The east is Zhunti Hall, which is dedicated to Zhunti Bodhisattva and served by two incarnations of dragon kings. Under the front eaves of the main hall, there is a shallow kiln hole on each side. The two gods of Bawa and Haozhang are painted on the east, and black tiger spirit officials are painted on the west. The pavilion on the top of the main hall is the Zhenwu Hall. In the middle of the Sumeru Altar sits the tall Zhenwu Emperor, dressed in armor and majestic. Standing under the altar is the Peach Blossom Girl in the east, holding the Xuanwu Seven-Star Sword; the Duke of Zhou in the west, holding the flag of the Great Emperor's Divine Order, and standing on the left and right are Zhenjun Shuide and Zhenjun Huode, armed with weapons, ready for orders. All the walls of the courtyard have been repaired, and the five couplets at the gate and the front porch have also been completely renewed. In 2004, the temple was officially approved and registered as a place for Buddhist activities.
