Boluo Guze is located in Boluo Township, Jiangda County, on both sides of Zhaqu River, a tributary of Jinsha River, about 50 kilometers away from the county seat. There are green mountains and green waters, a large forest area, and many varieties of trees, especially birch, which is used to engrave scriptures, which is a unique tree species here.
There are more than 100 skilled craftsmen who can independently engrave scripture tablets in the Polo area. The scripture panels now stored in Dege Sutra Printing House in Sichuan are mainly masterpieces of the engravers here. This place has a long history of engraving scriptures, a large number of engravers, and high engraving skills, which are rare in other places in Tibet, and it is a veritable "hometown of wood engravings".
