Puhua Temple is a temple built later in Wutai Mountain. During the Chongzhen period of the Ming Dynasty (1628-1644), there was a Jade Emperor Pavilion built here, so it is also called the Jade Emperor Temple. The present building was rebuilt in 1925 on the ruins of the Jade Emperor Temple.


Puhua Temple is famous all over the world for its distinctive combination of three religions and brick and stone carvings. The screen wall is made of stone and bricks. It is the longest screen wall in the Wutai Mountain temple. Cai and Longnu are accompanied by flowers and plants. These stone carvings are very exquisite, which can be compared with the screen wall of Longquan Temple. It is one of the masterpieces of the brick and stone buildings in Mount Wutai.
