Qingxu Temple was first built in the reign of Emperor Gaozong of the Tang Dynasty. It is the largest Taoist temple in the ancient city of Pingyao. The overall architectural layout is rigorous, the appearance is magnificent, and the connotation is rich. During the Gengzi Incident in 1900, when Emperor Guangxu and Empress Dowager Cixiang walked westward on Chang'an Road and passed Pingyao, they also came to Qingxu Temple for a glance. There are hundreds of years of architectural relics from the Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties in the temple. In addition to the main temples such as the Shanmen, Dragon and Tiger Hall, Xiandian, Sanqing Hall, and Yuhuang Pavilion, there are also 8 painted clay sculptures since the Yuan Dynasty. , Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties stele 30 pass (square). Qingxu Temple is also the seat of the Pingyao County Museum, which exhibits some exhibitions of Pingyao history and various cultural relics, such as stone carvings, colored glaze, Shage opera figures, water and land paintings, etc.
