Chunyang Palace in Taiyuan is located on the west side of Wuyi Square in the center of Taiyuan. It was first built in the Yuan Dynasty, rebuilt during the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty (1573-1620), and renovated and expanded during the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty (1736-1795). The word "Chunyang" in Chunyang Palace is the name of Lu Dongbin, a famous Taoist priest and one of the Eight Immortals in the Tang Dynasty. After Wang Chongyang founded the Quanzhen School of Taoism, Lu Dongbin was regarded as one of the "Northern Five Patriarchs", so here Also commonly known as "Lu Zu Temple". Today it is the Shanxi Provincial Art Museum.

When you walk into the gate of Chunyang Palace, you will see an elegant wooden archway in front of you. On the west side of the archway, you can see four cast statues from the Ming Dynasty. What you need to pay special attention to is the so-called "Dragon King Statue" in the middle. . In the stele corridor at the root of the west wall, in addition to 20 ancient steles embedded, there are also stone Buddhas, stone beasts, and stone scripture buildings, all of which are relics from the Han Dynasty to the Tang Dynasty.

Lu Zu Hall is the main hall of Chunyang Palace, located in the center of the courtyard, it is a magnificent building in the palace. On the top of the Lu Zu Hall is an octagonal spire, and on the bottom is an eave with spread wings, in which the statues of Lu Dongbin, Wang Chongyang and Qiu Chuji are enshrined. On the east side of Luzu Hall is the Hall of Five Emperors, and on the west side is the Hall of Grandma.

The courtyard at the back of the hall is also worth a visit. The courtyard is small in size, but its architectural pattern is quite unique. It is said that it was built according to the directions of the Eight Diagrams, and has distinct Taoist architectural features. The Wei Pavilion in the courtyard is the tallest building in Chunyang Palace. When you ascend the pavilion, you can see the scenery of the city center vividly. To the west of the backyard is a cross courtyard, which is the Zhaitang in the palace. There is a pocket garden next to the Zhaitang, covered with flowers and trees, with red walls and green tiles. When you come here, you will have a unique feeling.

The art museum in the scenic area mainly collects cultural relics of Buddhist statues in the past dynasties. There are more than 20 exhibition rooms, and there are "Stone Carving Art Exhibition", which exhibits stone carving statues from Han to Qing; Sculpture, which introduces the development history of Taoism from one side; "Exhibition of Treasures from the Canghai", exhibits the treasures of bronzes selected by the Taiyuan Copper Factory in the 1970s;

Every year during the Spring Festival, there will be a Taoist altar opening, blessing ceremony, and local Jin opera performances. Chunyang Palace is relatively close to Liuxiang, a famous business district in Taiyuan City, so you can visit it together.
