Pulu Volcano is actually a volcanic lava layer, which came from the Kunlun Mountains in the south and was active about 1.43 million years ago. The volcanic lava layer is distributed on the high terraces on both sides of the middle reaches of the Keriya River. The volcanic lava is divided into two layers. The lower layer is 7 meters thick. Baking traces; there is a 12.3-meter-thick gravel layer between the two layers, and the upper layer of lava is 20 meters thick, which is agglomerated rock, dense massive rock and pore-shaped rock.
The upper and lower layers of lava were formed in the early Pleistocene of the Quaternary. They belong to the basalt (trachee andesite) of two volcanic eruptions in different periods. The volcanic rock is covered on the gravel layer of the 6th terrace of the river, and the aeolian sandy loess layer is covered on it. The two volcanic activities are both in the high mountain area of Kunlun Mountains in the south, and the scales are huge, which is of great significance to the study of the formation and environmental evolution of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and Kunlun Mountains. Puru Volcano is still in a pristine state of preservation.
