Chigu Saltworks is the largest sun-dried saltworks in Taiwan's history, and it has been converted into a sightseeing saltworks for leisure and tourism.
Due to the increasing cost of salt production, the Taiwan Salt Company transformed the original salt fields and sun-dried salt storage yards into leisure and tourism purposes. In addition to retaining the remains and facilities of the salt industry, the original salt fields gradually became a salt field ecological area, with a height of seven floors. The sun-dried salt dump above has been transformed into a salt mountain for tourists to climb, allowing tourists to experience the scenery of the salt industry at that time.
At present, there are ladders and rope handrails for climbing the salt mountain, allowing tourists to climb to the top to take pictures as souvenirs. The experience of climbing up the salt ladder is very special, but some sections are a bit steep and the height is quite high. It can become slippery after rain, so climb carefully.
In Chigu Salt Mountain Park, Taiwan Salt Company uses the production of healthy low-sodium salt to develop "salty" popsicles with a very special taste. There are also a number of recreational facilities in the park, including soil, tile pan salt field experience area, ATV riding, etc. for tourists to experience.
