Originally named Xiashi Temple, it is located on the hillside of Xiashi, Zezhou County, 17 kilometers southeast of Jincheng City. Looking at Fushan Mountain in the east, there are huge peaks lined up, majestic; looking at Jueshan Mountain in the south, the twin peaks reach into the sky, beautiful and tall. The Danshui at the foot of the mountain is rippling, like a jade belt floating from the northeast to the southwest; looking back at the peaks of Xiashi, the cliffs and stalwarts are cut by magic. Because Sakyamuni sits on the lotus seat in the temple, it is named Qinglian Temple and is a national key cultural relic protection unit.

The temple is divided into two places, the ancient temple and the new temple, which are separated by a few miles, and belong to the Taoist temple of the Pure Land Sect and the Tiantai Sect. The new temple was named "Fuyan Temple" in the third year of Song Taiping Xingguo (978), and it was called Qinglian Temple in Ming Dynasty.
