Qingmuchuan Ancient Town has beautiful mountains and clear waters, natural ecology and simple folk customs. The ancient town has a long history. In ancient times, it was an area where the Qiang and Han people lived together. Since the Ming Dynasty, it has gradually become prosperous, and most of the houses were built in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Now the ancient town retains a large number of ancient streets, ancient temples, ancient plank roads, ancient dwellings and other buildings, which have been listed as key cultural relics protection units in Ningqiang County.
Here, the river passes through the town, and people are doing all kinds of work leisurely, living a comfortable life. The ancient street Huilongchang was built during the Chenghua period of the Ming Dynasty. The street is 800 meters long and 4 meters wide, basically maintaining the original appearance of the ancient times. The most well-preserved Wei Family Courtyard in the ancient town was built by Wei Futang, a well-known gentleman at that time. There are three Wei's courtyards and one middle school initiated by him, which are well preserved. There are also ancestral halls of the Qu family, Wei family, Zhao family and Tu family built during the Ming and Qing Dynasties, and steles with inscriptions. At a distance of 5 kilometers from the ancient street, there is an ancient plank road leading to Gansu in the Ming and Qing Dynasties, which is 60 kilometers long.
The Wenchuan Earthquake in 2008 caused part of the roof and walls of Wei's House, the most well-preserved ancient building complex in this town, to crack and collapse. The 800-meter-long "Huilongchang" ancient street built in the Chenghua period of the Ming Dynasty was also destroyed, and many old houses have collapsed. Due to the continuous aftershocks of the Aoki River, the state of protection of these monuments is worrying.
