Walking into the ancient town along Dingguangmen, the first thing you see is Zhao Lilun Centennial Square. The archway was built by Emperor Daoguang of the Qing Dynasty. Walking along the stone-paved ancient post road, there are almost all shops selling local specialties on both sides of the street. The ancient post road winding north from the south gate to the north gate is not only the central axis of the ancient town, but also the main street. The main street is bounded by the ancient cultural square in the center of the ancient town, and is called North Street to the north and South Street to the south. Intersecting with the main street is East Street to the east and West Street to the west. Going east along the East Street, you can reach Wenchang Pavilion. Wenchang Pavilion is located at No. 143 East Street. It was built in the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty. To the west of the main street, you can reach Yingxiang Temple, Ciyun Temple, Longevity Palace and Catholic Church and other religious buildings with different styles. There is a quiet alley between South Street and West Street, called Back Street. Back Street is a characteristic stone alley in Qingyan Ancient Town. The bluestone slabs on the road have been scoured and sharpened for hundreds of years. The streets are surrounded by courtyard walls built of layers of stones. The roads are narrow and quiet, undulating along the mountains, which is the location for photography.
The streets and alleys of Qingyan Ancient Town are deep and winding, but there are guide signs on the main street and every important intersection, and most of the alleys can be taken back to the main street, so there is no need to worry about getting lost when walking through the ancient town.
