Located in the middle of the ancient city of Xuanhua, Qingyuan Tower is the best among the many cultural relics and historic sites in Zhangjiakou. Qingyuan Tower, also known as Bell Tower, was first built in the 18th year of Chenghua in Ming Dynasty in 1482 AD. The building is built on the 8-meter-high Shiziquan cave, with Changping in the south, Guangling in the north, Anding in the east, and Daxin in the west. It forms an axis with Zhenshuo Tower and Gongji Tower in the city. The 500-year-old iron wheel ruts in the cave are clearly visible. The building has 3 floors on the outside and a solid floor on the inside, with a total height of 25 meters and a pavilion height of 17 meters. It has 3 bays and 6 tower rafters. The upper enamel is a green glazed tile roof, and the waist enamel and lower enamel are cloth tile roofs. The beam frame and bucket arch are exquisite and beautiful, flying around the corners, full of vitality. On the upper and lower floors, there are four hanging foreheads. The south is called Qingyuan Building, the north is called Shengtong Tianying, the east is called towering Yanjiang, and the west is called Zhenjing Bianmo. Hanging in the building is a Xuanfu town bell cast in the eighteenth year of Jiajing in the Ming Dynasty. It is 5 meters high, 7 meters in diameter, and weighs about 10,000 jin. The bell is melodious and loud, and can be heard for more than 40 miles, which is quite famous. The building has a unique shape and an exquisite and rigorous structure. It can be as beautiful as the Yellow Crane Tower in Wuhan, which is rare in China and is known as the "Second Yellow Crane Tower".

Qingyuan Building has gone through many vicissitudes and was severely damaged during the "Cultural Revolution". In 1986, the Ministry of Culture presided over the comprehensive restoration of Qingyuan Building. The restored green tiles and blue bricks of Qingyuan Tower are crystal clear, golden dragons and jade beasts are proud of their heads in the sky, and their flying horns are magnificent. Elegant, majestic, spectacular. The two iron wheel ruts intertwined 500 years ago in the coupon cave can be clearly seen. It can be imagined that the cars were rumbling, the horses were rustling, the sound of whips was full of ears, and the city was flourishing. Xuanhua Qingyuan Building is like an old man in history. From its birth to the present, more than 500 years of vicissitudes have been treasured in its memory. In 1988, Qingyuan Building was listed as a national key cultural relic protection unit.
