The Qugong Cultural Site is located on the edge of a river valley 5 kilometers north of Lhasa, at an altitude of 3690 meters. In October 1983, Tibetan archaeologists excavated in Qugong Village, Nangre Mountain Valley, northern suburb of Lhasa, pushing the civilization history of Lhasa back to 4,000 years ago.

The Qugong cultural relics are distributed at the lower end of the hillside north of Qugong Village and the General Hospital, with cliffs on the slope and Lhasa River valley on the bottom. This ancient village is about 150 meters from east to west, 30 meters from north to south, with a total area of nearly 5,000 square meters. One of the places where many cultures coexist.

Trial excavation of the Qugong Cultural Site began in November 1984. Two ash pits, one cellar, and one sarcophagus tomb have been discovered, and more than 10,000 artifacts have been unearthed. There are stone coffins in the tomb, and the burial style is bent limb burial. Among the stone tools, there are mostly ground stone tools, a small amount of ground stone tools and jade tools, and a small number of fine stone tools.
