Hongjungou is located in Zimudagou, 39 kilometers south of Banma County, 800 kilometers away from Xining City, the provincial capital, and about 170 kilometers away from Aba County, Sichuan Province. The scenic spot is located in the dense virgin forest of Ma Ke River, surrounded by mountains and lush forests.

At the end of June 1936, after the Ganzi Conference, the Second and Fourth Front Army of the Red Army left Ganzi and marched towards the Aba area of Beichuan. About 25,000 people from the Red Second Front Army and the Red Fourth Front Army were active in the Banma area for roughly 24 days.

The slogan "Go north to respond to the national anti-Japanese and anti-Chiang struggle! An Qingxuan" still remains on the stone wall, which was left when the Anqing Branch of the Second Front Army of the Red Army passed by Zimudagou.

Wherever the Red Army went, the Tibetan people were deeply impressed by strict military discipline and loving the people like children. In order to express their nostalgia for the Red Army, the herdsmen renamed the Zimudagou that the Red Army walked through as "Red Army Valley", and put the Red Army through it. The bridge of the Red Army was renamed "Red Army Bridge", the road walked by the Red Army was renamed "Red Army Road", and the spring water the Red Army drank was renamed "Red Army Spring".

In 1985, the Banma County Government built a Red Army pavilion in Zimudagou, where the Red Army wrote slogans, to protect the huge slogan "Go north to respond to the national anti-Japanese and anti-Chiang struggle! An Qingxuan" for future generations to visit and admire.
