introduce
Hongshan Fort, also known as Hengshan Fort, is located in Lingwu City, Ningxia. It was built in the 16th year of Zhengde in Ming Dynasty (AD 1521), and has a history of more than 500 years. It is an important fort in the defense system of the Great Wall in Ming Dynasty.
According to historical records, Hongshan Fort is 50 miles from Qingshuiying in the east and 20 miles from Hengcheng in the west. There are 251 troops stationed in Hengshan Fort, one fort officer and one integrity officer, who lead the peak (beacon tower) Badun and guard the Great Wall about 30 miles from east to west. Today, in the castle, we can still see the original foundations of the house. On the northwest platform of the castle, a large number of broken bricks and tiles and fragments of building components can be seen piled up. This may be the residence of the officials guarding the fort, and it may be a high-grade magnificent building before it was destroyed.
In peacetime, Hongshan Fort is an activity place for people of all nationalities inside and outside the Great Wall to carry out business exchanges. Although the current Red Mountain Fort has experienced the devastation of the war and the erosion of the years, its walls are still intact and towering. Although the gate of the Wengcheng of Hongshan Fort has been buried by wind and sand, the magnificent gate still stands tenaciously in the soil.
