The Wu family was the largest salt merchant in Heijing Ancient Town in the Qing Dynasty, and was the richest man in Heijing at that time. The Wu Family Courtyard was first built in the 16th year of Daoguang in the Qing Dynasty, and the expansion was completed in the 7th year of Xianfeng, which lasted about 20 years. The compound faces east and west, and is built according to the situation of the mountain. The layout is quite unique.

The whole building is composed of 4 patios, with 99 rooms and 108 doors, which is quite grand in scale. Standing on the third floor of the Wu Family Courtyard, you can overlook the entire Heijing Ancient Town.
