Sang'a Temple is 20 kilometers away from Lhasa City and is located in the center of the old city of Dazi County. The monastery was built in 1419 by Tsongkhapa and belongs to the Gelug Sect of Tibetan Buddhism, with a history of 587 years. According to religious and historical practice, it is under the jurisdiction of Ganden Monastery.
In the heyday of history, there were 100 monks in Sang'a Temple. In November 1986, it was restored and opened to the public with the approval of the People's Government of Dazi County. The temple covers a total area of about 15.27 mu, with a construction area of 2343.8 cubic meters. There are 33 monks, and there are a total of six-armed main Buddhas in the temple. There is a legend: "Going to Ganden Monastery but not going to Sang'a Monastery means that the pilgrimage to Buddha has not been completed", which means that the road of practice is only halfway. In recent years, the number of tourists who come to visit archaeology and make pilgrimages to Buddha has gradually increased.
