Sangdan Kangsang Snow Mountain is located in Nagqu County. Among the many peaks in the northern Tibetan Plateau, Sangdan Kangsang Snow Mountain is the most famous, and it is respected as one of the twenty-five fairyland dwellers in religion. The protector of Dharma, the surrounding mountains and lakes are her servants. The altitude of this section is as high as 6590 meters. Due to the relatively high terrain, all the rivers flowing from the south of Sangdan Kangsang flow southward and flow into the Indian Ocean. All the river water flowing down from the north flows northward, pours into the Naqu River, and then flows into the Nujiang River.
Seen from the south, Sangdan Kangsang Snow Mountain looks like a king on the throne; from the west, it looks like a silver lion leaping in the sky; from the east, it looks like a crystal pagoda; from the north, it looks like a silver drapery. As the seasons change, the mountain peaks also show different colors: off-white in summer, silver in winter, white and bright in spring and autumn. The Barong Temple in the Barong Valley at the foot of the mountain is the main temple of Barong Kagyu, one of the four major Kagyu schools of Tibetan Buddhism. Every year, many believers come to worship and offer incense.
