Sangding Monastery is located on a dangerous and steep mountaintop in the southwest of Yamdrok Yongcuo Lake, belonging to the Shangba Kagyu branch of the Kagyu sect of Tibetan Buddhism. The living Buddha reincarnation inheritance system has continued for twelve generations. The female living Buddha Dorje Pham is considered to be the physical reappearance of the Indian Vajra Haimu, and is highly respected by believers. The temple has the physical bodies of previous Dorje Pham. The whole shape of Sangding Temple is like the Potala Palace in Lhasa, the Dividend Palace and the White House. The temple specializes in Vajra Haimu Secret Method.
