Sangmu Village is located on the banks of the Lhasa River in Tibet, on the outskirts of Lhasa, 12 kilometers away from the Lhasa Bus Station, and close to the Qinghai-Tibet Highway. It is said that the name of "Sangmu Village" was taken by Rinpoche when he practiced here. Historically, Sangmu Village has always been the territory of famous Lhasa monasteries such as Drepung Monastery and Sala Monastery, as well as a famous hometown of singing and dancing. Up to now, the local traditional way of life is still maintained here.
