Sanjiang Drum Tower is located on the banks of the Xunjiang River and is one of the four landmark buildings in the county. Construction started in June 2002 and was completed in November at a cost of more than 1.7 million yuan. It was built by Yang Siyu, a famous Dong folk craftsman in Sanjiang. It is an important gift project for the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Sanjiang Dong Autonomous County. Yang Siyu is the inheritor of the intangible cultural heritage—the wooden architectural skills of the Dong nationality, and a master of Chinese arts and crafts. Sanjiang Drum Tower has a total height of 42.6 meters and a total of 27 floors of tile eaves. The largest main pillar inside the Drum Tower is 208 years old, and the second main pillar is 206 years old, which is unique in the history of Drum Tower architecture. In order to enhance the viewing function of tourism, there are 4 viewing platforms inside the Drum Tower, and the viewing platform on the upper level is located on the 25th floor. On the pedestal stone of the Drum Tower, there are carved reliefs reflecting the daily life scenes of the Dong people, such as robbing fireworks, stepping on the singing hall, beating oil tea, fighting cocks and birds, raising silkworms and weaving cloth.
