Sanyuan Town God's Temple is located in the middle of Dongqu'an Street in Sanyuan County, Xianyang. It was built in the eighth year of Hongwu in the Ming Dynasty (AD 1375), more than 600 years ago, and is one of the largest and relatively complete Ming Dynasty architectural complexes in China.
Sanyuan Town God's Temple is a palace-style building. The entire building complex is composed of five courtyards, and the five corridors extend in depth and on both sides. On the central axis, there are three gates, four arches, and five double-eave palace buildings. The main buildings such as Yingmen, Theater Tower, Bell and Drum Tower, Dedication Hall, Worship Hall, Accompanying Hall, and Sleeping Hall have their own characteristics. In front of the temple gate facing north and south, the 10-meter-high screen wall is made of water-milled bricks, and in the middle is a brick relief of carps jumping over the dragon gate.
The Sanyuan County Museum is located in the Town God's Temple. It has collected nearly 3,000 precious cultural relics and more than 100 inscriptions. Among them, the stone inscriptions of "Chu Shi Biao" written by Yue Fei and the authentic calligraphy of Yu Youren are praised by the world. Every year during the Mid-Autumn Festival (from the 11th to the 15th day of the eighth month of the lunar calendar), the Sanyuan City God Temple Fair holds temple fairs, during which there are activities such as singing operas, social fire performances, and material exchanges.
