Sexu Temple is one of the larger temple groups in Ganzi Prefecture, consisting of more than 100 temples. The temple has tens of thousands of Buddha statues, Buddhist scriptures, a two-story copper gilded stupa, and Buddhist staffs from famous ancient Indian temples.
Shiqu is a place with a strong religious atmosphere, especially the people in the pastoral areas are more religious. There are 46 temples of Yellow Sect, White Sect, Red Sect and Chahua Temple in the whole county, among which Sexu Temple is relatively large and well-known.

The treasure of the town temple of Sexu Temple is the tooth stupa of Tsongkhapa. It is said that there are three existing teeth of Tsongkhapa, and the one preserved in Sexu Temple is the larger one. The reason why the Sexu Monastery in the Kham-Tibet area has this honor is that it is a great disciple of Tsongkhapa.
Religious activities
Sexu Monastery holds a sutra debate conference every year. Lamas come from the Yellow Sect temples all over Tibet to participate in the sutra debate. The scene is quite grand. The old lama with profound Buddhist knowledge sat upright on the scripture bed in the front row and was responsible for adjudicating the outcome.
