The Apeng River originates from Lichuan, Hubei. It is a river flowing from east to west in China. It flows through the Qianjiang River to Youyang and flows into the Wujiang River at the ancient town of Gongtan. It is 249 kilometers long and is the largest tributary of the Wujiang River. The Apeng River breaks through the mountains and ridges in the Qianjiang River, and flows thousands of miles. The mountains are high and the valleys are deep and the cliffs face each other, forming a unique canyon scenery. Among them, Shengui Gorge is the most unique. The Grand Canyon (Shengui Gorge) has a total length of 38.9 kilometers and is a typical boutique scenic spot. The channel of Shengui Gorge is zigzag and snake-like, showing a series of "S" shapes, and there is almost no straight channel. There are 27 bends and 28 gates (the local name for "a line of sky"). It has so many bends that it is rare in the canyon. The poet sighed and said: "There is no way for the boat to reach the cliff. Turn the bow and make another bend." It can be described as a true portrayal of Shengui Gorge. On the cliffs, there are hanging stalactites everywhere, some on the mountainside, some on the water, in various poses and with different expressions, strange shapes. The more typical ones include lions watching the tide, apes feeding milk, beef liver and horse lungs, Ganoderma lucidum guards, Ganoderma lucidum gardens, elephant trunks absorbing water, monkeys fishing for the moon, dragon claws, fairy fields and other unique landscapes. The water depth in the Shengui Gorge reservoir area is as deep as 85 meters. Although the relative height difference of the canyon has been reduced, the charm of the water has been added. Except that the upper reaches of the canyon will become turbid during floods, the rest of the time the river water is as green as jade, creating the unique scenery of Shengui Gorge. The superior water quality breeds the best fish in Shengui Gorge. There are dozens of fish species here, which are naturally fragrant when cooked without any muddy smell. There are mandarin fish (commonly known as sow shell), yellow curd, silver carp, turtle and so on.
