Shennong Mountain is located at the foot of Taihang Mountain in Qinyang City. It is named Shennong Mountain because Emperor Yan Shennong distinguished five grains, tasted hundreds of herbs, and set up altars to worship heaven here. Shennong Mountain is one of the first batch of global geological parks in the world. It is also a famous mountain of Confucianism, Taoism and Buddhism.
Shennong Mountain has beautiful natural scenery. Hundreds of millions of years of vicissitudes in the sea and mulberry fields have created her wonderful scenery with thousands of peaks competing for beauty and deep valleys. The Longji Great Wall, a world geological wonder, is a representative natural landscape of Shennong Mountain. The Longji Great Wall has one ridge and nine peaks, winding and undulating, just like a dragon coiling across the top of Taihang. The mountains are steep and beautiful, and the scenery is very beautiful, which is breathtaking.
The vegetation in the scenic area is luxuriant, and there are many varieties. This is the origin of the famous "four Huai medicines" in the country, Huai Yam, Huai Achyranthes, Huai Di Huang, and Huai Chrysanthemum. The origin of Pinus chinensis, tens of thousands of Pinus chinensis take root in the cliff, with various gestures. There are many kinds of animals in Shennong Mountain. Among them, there are more than 3,000 Taihang macaques, which are national second-class precious wild protected animals. They belong to 9 groups of macaques. They are like elves in the mountains, or jumping between cliffs and rocks , or play and amused with tourists.
Shennong Mountain has a rich historical and cultural heritage. Emperor Yandi Shennong distinguished five grains, tasted hundreds of herbs, pioneered farming, set up altars to worship heaven, and created a precedent for agriculture and medicine. Together with the Yellow Emperor, he is also known as the ancestor of Chinese humanities and has been admired by all generations. Shennongshan Jingying Temple is the birthplace of the Shangqing School of Taoism, and is honored as the ancestor of the Shangqing School by the Chinese Taoist Association. Wei Huacun, the founder of the Shangqing School, wrote the Taoist classic "Huang Ting Jing" here. There are also the thousand-year-old cliff carvings of Taiping Temple, Yunyang Temple and Qingjing Palace where Buddha and Taoism coexist, and the three ancient gates with a long history. There are many historical sites and incense.
