The Shexiang Museum is located in the southeast corner of the Shexiang Mausoleum, 0.5 kilometers north of Dafang County, facing east and west. It is the first museum named after national historical figures in Southwest China. Shexiang (1368-1396 A.D.) was the daughter of the Shexiang family in Yongning Qielin (now Gulin, Sichuan) at the end of the Yuan Dynasty. She was a descendant of Mu Awo, the ancestor of the Hengbu of the Yi nationality. A well-known female chieftain of the Yi nationality in Guizhou.
The Shexiang Museum displays the splendor of the history and culture of the ancient Shuixi Yi people who lived in the northwest of Guizhou and took Dafang as their political, economic and cultural center. The Yi nationality is a nation with a long history and ancient civilization. After the Mobu Deshi family of the Yi nationality moved to Guizhou, they developed and multiplied in a large area west of the Yachi River for a long time, which is called "Lulubu" or "Shuixi Yi" in history books. In the Shu Han Dynasty, Tuo Azhe was the king of Luodian, and the capital was established generously; in the early Ming Dynasty, there was a prosperous period such as Mrs. Shexiang serving as a consolation envoy in Guizhou and opening up nine post stations in Longchang. After a long course of social development, the Yi people in Shuixi have created a splendid culture with their own characteristics in practice. There are 6 exhibition rooms in the museum, which collect a large number of ancient books in Yi language.
