Shika Snow Mountain Scenic Area is located in the southwest of Shangri-La County, about 7 kilometers away from the county seat, adjacent to Napa Sea. In the local Tibetan language, Shika Snow Mountain means "mountain with red deer". Although it is called a snow mountain, it actually only has snow from November to April and May of the next year, and the rocks are exposed the rest of the time. In the lower parts of the mountains, there are dense meadows and azaleas in full bloom. It is very pleasant to wander among them.

The main peak of Shika Snow Mountain is 4449.5 meters above sea level, and the landscape is different in four seasons, which can be summed up in a sentence: "Look at the green grass in spring and flowers in summer, and the snow in autumn and winter". In May, the snow is still covered, but the foot of the mountain is full of spring. On the green meadow, there are flocks of cattle and sheep, and the smoke from the kitchen is curling up, creating a harmonious pastoral scenery. In the following summer, there will be a sea of ​​flowers, and the rhododendrons all over the mountains will be fascinating. In September and October, the meadow at the foot of the mountain is dyed red by the blooming chamaejasma, and the mountains are covered with golden redwoods, poplars and birches. In the winter of November and December, the entire Shika Snow Mountain is covered with white caps, which is particularly holy against the backdrop of the blue sky and white clouds.

There are two cableways in the Shika Snow Mountain Scenic Area, which can easily reach the top directly. If the cableway goes up and down, the whole journey takes about 3-4 hours. Considering personal physical conditions, the weak can purchase oxygen backup at the entrance of the cableway first. The first cableway goes directly to the Yala Qingbo Ranch at an altitude of 3,764 meters. It is exciting to play around the ranch and breathe the refreshing and pure air of the plateau.

Then return to the cableway station and continue to take the second cableway to the top of the mountain. From the viewing platform on the top of the mountain, you can look at many surrounding snow mountains, which are in order: Biluo Snow Mountain, Meili Snow Mountain, Yading Sanshen Mountain, Haba, and Yulong Snow Mountain. If you want to see all the snow mountains, the suitable time period is from November to March and April between. From the cableway station on the top of the mountain, you can walk for about an hour to arrive at the 10,000-acre Rhododendron Forest. You can not only watch a large piece of magnificent Rhododendron, but also overlook Lingxi Lake. If you have good physical strength, you can even walk directly from the top of the mountain to the Yala Qingbo Ranch without taking the second section of the cableway, but it will take a long time, and the whole journey will take about 3 hours more.
