Shimen Mountain is located in the West Qinling Mountains 50 kilometers southeast of Beidao District, Tianshui City. It is 2094 meters above sea level. Shimen is known as the "Little Yellow Mountain" in Gansu because of its beautiful peaks and mountains, and the mist that often stays there.
The construction of the temples on the mountain began relatively late in the Ming Dynasty, about 370 years ago. Now there are more than 20 statues of Ming and Qing dynasties and 27 ancient buildings. The natural scenery on the mountain and the artificial buildings are ingeniously combined to form a harmonious whole. The palaces and pavilions are hidden among the towering ancient trees, deep and quiet.
Shimen Mountain is mainly composed of Doumu, Xinglong, Huangtian, Yuling and Qilin. The temples built independently on each peak are connected to each other, so it is also called Wuyang Temple. Huangtian Peak and Doumu Peak stand facing each other, shaped like door couplets. Juxian Bridge spans between the two peaks. Every Mid-Autumn Festival, the bright moon rises slowly from the east, like a jade plate soaring into the sky, just between the two peaks. . At the foot of Shanxi, there are also the Hall of the Brachial Arm and the Hall of the Ancestor Qiu.
There is an iron bell of Mengdong (1689) preserved on the mountain. The full text describes the four reaches of Shimen Mountain: east to Fenshuiling, south to Yanziguan River, west to Miaoerzui, and north to Liangzishu as the boundary. In addition, there are Liangshan pine, Bailu cliff, hanging painting cliff, roller table, light-transmitting mirror and other wonders.
