Even without the continuous existence of the ancient papermaking technique, Shiqiao Village is still worth visiting. Surrounded by the Nangao River, this small village is tall and straight in the karst, surrounded by a bay of clear water, and groups of stilted buildings are scattered in it. You can wander leisurely in the beautiful villages or take part in the ancient paper making course. Shiqiao Village is a village well-known for its ancient hand-made paper. There are 250 households living in this Miao village, and more than 40 households make paper for their livelihood. It is a veritable paper-making village. The tradition of hand-made paper began in the middle of the Tang Dynasty. Although the modern paper-making industry is getting more and more developed, hand-made paper is not very profitable, but this traditional craft in the village has been kept intact until now. At present, the main production is white leather paper and colored leather paper. The paper quality is good, especially the colored handmade paper is rare in the whole country. Some colored leather papers are also sold in Australia, Southeast Asia and other regions. It is used to make greeting cards, handbags, decorate storefronts, etc. In the stockade, it is easy to find the exhibition place of ancient papermaking under the "foot of the big cliff", just a few steps away from the stone bridge of Nangao River.
