Shuanglin Temple is an ancient temple listed in the "World Heritage List" together with Pingyao's ancient city wall, Zhenguo Temple and other scenic spots. Architecture of the Ming and Qing dynasties. There are more than 2,000 painted clay sculptures of Song, Yuan, Ming, Qing and other dynasties in Shuanglin Temple. They have inherited the fine tradition of colored sculptures since Tang Dynasty in my country, have a highly realistic style, and are all rare treasures.

The Shuanglin temple complex is divided into two parts, east and west. The west is the temple, which is also the main part of the play. Along the central axis, there are three courtyards, consisting of ten halls. The front yard is the Sakyamuni Hall, the Arhat Hall, the Wusheng Hall, the Land Hall, the Yama Hall and the Heavenly King Hall; the middle courtyard is the Daxiong Hall and the Thousand Buddha Hall and the Bodhisattva Hall on the two sides; the backyard is the Empress Hall and the Zhenyi Temple. In the east are Buddhist temples and scripture rooms. In the Ming Dynasty, a tall rammed earth wall was built around the temple, with arrow stacks on it, which looks like a small castle.

When you visit Shuanglin Temple, you will be amazed everywhere. The three-meter-high "Four King Kong" statues in the Hall of Heavenly Kings are tall and mighty; in the Hall of Sakyamuni, the four walls are in the form of a series of wall sculptures, showing the life of Buddha Sakyamuni; the statue of Avalokitesvara in the Hall of Thousand Buddhas has a peaceful face Charming, comfortable and natural posture. The statue of Wei Tuo next to Avalokitesvara depicts the dual characters in depth, the exaggerated and deformed body expresses strength, and the facial expressions are highly expressive; the main image in the Bodhisattva Hall - Avalokitesvara with thousands of hands and eyes, has ever-changing gestures and is very slender and flexible.

In addition, there are still a few Ming Dynasty murals on the outer eaves of the Thousand Buddhas and Bodhisattva Halls; on both sides of the Sakyamuni Hall there are bell towers and drum towers facing each other.
