Among the mountains in the southwest of Chengde, there are two huge rock pillars lined up from north to south, standing shoulder to shoulder, like pagodas, with a brick pagoda on each peak, hence the name Shuangta Mountain. There is a man-made brick pagoda on the rock pillar, which is said to be the tomb pagoda of the Liao Dynasty. It has a history of thousands of years and is an existing ancient building in Chengde. Now there is a ladder next to the tower, which can be climbed up. There are also Sanxian Temple, Qibao Tower, Lingfeng Ancient Garden, Cliff Stone Carvings and other landscapes on the mountain. The brick pagoda on the top of the South Peak faces south, is more than 5 meters high, square, and the side is more than 2 meters long. The east, west and south walls are seamed with green bricks, and the north wall is seamed with straight stubble. Before 1976, the cracks in the north wall were relatively large, about 20 centimeters wide. After the Tangshan Earthquake, not only did the brick pagoda not collapse, but the cracks merged together, which is very miraculous.

must see tips

It is said that Emperor Qianlong ordered people to build a ladder one year, and wanted to go up to see what happened in person. After going up, he saw a shrine, a stone table, an incense burner, and an old book on the stone table in the small temple. Qianlong flipped through it, but couldn't understand a word. A pair of broken straw sandals was placed under the stone table, and there were two fields of leeks in front of the temple. Disappointed, he came down without taking anything. Back at the Summer Resort, he had a dream that night: an old man asked him what his Majesty saw when he climbed the Shuangta Mountain, and Qianlong answered it truthfully. The old man said that old books are heavenly books, straw sandals are cloud climbing boots, leeks are Ganoderma lucidum grass, and incense burners are cloud altars. The emperor didn't take a fancy to anything, he really had no eyes. Early the next morning, Qianlong ordered people to build the ladder again, but they couldn't build it anyway, so they had to give up.
