The ancient city of Shuozhou in the Northern Qi Dynasty and the city of Shuozhou at the end of the Yuan Dynasty and the beginning of the Ming Dynasty are located in Shuocheng District, Shuozhou City.

According to the records of "Shuozhou Chronicle", the exact building age of the ancient city wall was established in the eighth year of Tianbao in the Northern Qi Dynasty (557). Sui, Tang, Liao, and Jin dynasties continued to use it, and it has a history of 1439 years. It was expanded on the former site of Mayi City in the Qin and Han Dynasties. At the end of the Yuan Dynasty and the beginning of the Ming Dynasty, half of the city wall in the northwest was omitted, and the city wall of the North Qi Dynasty in the southeast corner was used to rebuild Shuozhou City, which was covered with bricks in the third year of Hongwu in the Ming Dynasty (1370).

The ancient city of Northern Qi is rectangular in plane, 1,800 meters long from north to south, 1,600 meters wide from east to west, and 6,800 meters in circumference, covering a total area of 2.88 million square meters. The remaining height of the existing city wall is about 8 meters, the width of the bottom is about 15 meters, and the width of the top is about 10 meters. The structure of the upper part of the city wall is now unknown.

Shuozhou City was built at the end of Yuan Dynasty and the beginning of Ming Dynasty, covering the southwest corner of Beiqi City. At that time, the city wall was 12 meters high, the battlement was 2 meters high, the total height was 14 meters, and the circumference was 4000 meters. There were four urns, four corner towers, and 12 enemy towers. There are 4 gate towers and 4 Yandun. The four gates are called Wende Gate in the east, Wuding Gate in the west, Chengen Gate in the south, and Zhensai Gate in the north. Except for the south city wall, city gate, west city wall, city gate and urn city, all other buildings have been destroyed. The streets and alleys and layout in the city basically keep the original system.
