The source of the Fen River is located about 1 km northwest of Dongzhai Town, Ningwu County. According to the "Shan Hai Jing": "The mountain of Guancen comes from the Fen River", so later generations believe that this is the source of the Fen River.
It is the mother river of the Jin people. There is a pond at the source, and the stone wall on the pond is engraved with the four characters "Fenyuan Lingmao", which has been known as the first holy place in the Three Jin Dynasties since ancient times. Leiming Temple, an ancient temple in northern Shanxi, got its name from the sound of thunder when the Fen River gushes out from the lower dragon mouth of the stone cliff. The ancient temple fair is held on the eighth day of April every year, which is unprecedentedly grand.
