Nanhu Lake is located in the south of Mengzi County, so it is called "Nanhu Lake" and its original name is Caohai. In the Ming Dynasty, the magistrate led the people to take out the silt and weeds in the lake and build three hills, which are named after the mythical immortals living in Penglai, Yingzhou, and Fangzhang Sanxian Mountain. The water from four springs, including Jiuji Spring and Faguo Spring, was brought in from more than ten miles away from the county seat and poured into the lake, forming two large and small lakes with rippling blue waves. The total area of Nanhu Lake is 410,000 square meters. Weeping poplars are planted on the embankment of the lake. It is now Nanhu Park.

The main building in Nanhu Park is the majestic Yingzhou Pavilion. Yingzhou Pavilion was built in the Gengwu Year of Qianlong, and was destroyed by wars in the Qing Dynasty. It was rebuilt several times and is still well preserved. Because literati and scholars often come to get together, recite poems, compose Fu, study poetry and books, and it is also known as the "sea of learning", the legend of crossing bridge rice noodles in Yunnan originated from here. The Chinese-style pavilions, corridors and curved bridges are hidden in the shade of greenery, and the scenery is beautiful. It is a good place to observe the life of the local people. In addition, there are some Western European-style buildings around the South Lake, which are witnesses to the history of Mengzi.
