The South Peak is 2160.8 meters above sea level, which is the peak of Mount Hua. There is one peak and two peaks on the south peak, and the pines and cypresses peak on the east, which is named for the many pine and cypress trees growing there. Luoyan Peak on the west top is the top of South Peak. It is said that because the mountain is too high, wild geese cannot fly over here and must rest here, so it is named. Climbing up to the South Peak, you can see all the mountains at your feet, overlooking the Loess Plateau, the Weihe Plain, the Yellow River, the Jinghe River, and the Weihe River. It's like walking in the sky, like walking on floating clouds. There is Laojun Cave on the top of the South Peak. It is said that Lao Tzu, the ancestor of Taoism, lived in seclusion here. There are two big characters "Zhenyuan" on the rock at the top of the South Peak. In addition, there are Laozi Peak, Alchemy Furnace, and Bagua Pool on the South Peak. These scenic spots are all related to the legend of Laozi. There is Taishang Spring in the north of Laojun Cave, which is called "Yangtian Pool" today, and the spring water is green all the year round. Under the cliff on its east side is the "Nantianmen" stone archway. There is also the Jintian Palace built in the Ming Dynasty on the South Peak, also known as the Baidi Temple, which is dedicated to the God of Huashan, Shaohao. In the pine forest behind Jintian Palace, there is a cement pavilion called Yanggong Pavilion, which was built by the patriotic general Yang Hucheng when he went to Huashan in 1931. The pavilion is engraved with Yang Hucheng's travel notes on Huashan.
