Shikong Buddha Temple is located at the south foot of Shuanglong Mountain in Jinsha Village, Yuding Township, Zhongning County. Shuanglong Mountain was called "Stone Kong Mountain" in ancient times, so the grottoes were named after "Stone Kong". The Great Buddha Temple faces the Yellow River, the Great Wall to the north, and 20 kilometers away from the county seat. It is a key Buddhist temple in the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region and one of the key cultural relics protection units in the autonomous region.

The grottoes are dug in the gravel under the steep cliff. There are 13 caves in total, which are divided into three cave groups: upper, middle and lower. They were called "Three Temples" at that time. There is a spiritual light cave in the upper temple, which is 4.5 meters high, 8.9 meters deep and 5.9 meters wide. The Baizi Guanyin Cave is 2.5 meters high, 1.5 meters deep and 2 meters wide. There is Baizi Guanyin. The Ten Thousand Buddha Cave is 4 meters high, 8.2 meters deep and 6 meters wide. There are Buddha statues and arhats inside, and many small Buddha statues on the top. The gods and bears are different and lifelike.

The above three holes are all on the second floor pavilion. The first floor is the Mahavira Hall, with the three sages of Huayan, the Sakyamuni Buddha in the middle, holding the Dharma, the Buddha statue is 3 meters high, the Vajra seat, Ananda, Kassapa, Manjusri riding a peacock lion on both sides, Samantabhadra riding a six-toothed giant Elephant, the palace is resplendent and magnificent. Then there is the Fu Lu Shou Sanxing Cave, which is 1.9 meters high, 1.9 meters deep and 3.2 meters wide, with murals inside. Sanqing Cave is 4 meters high and 5.7 meters deep. 6 meters wide, which is the left and right supporting halls of the current Daxiong Hall.

Zhongsi is a nine-room Wuliang temple cave, which is the center of the entire grotto and was once included in the "Dictionary of Chinese Scenic Spots". This hole is spacious and grand, 125 meters wide, about 25 meters high, and 724 meters deep. There are five caves in Xiasi, the first one may be for monks, the second is Niangniang Cave, the third is Yaowang Cave, the fourth is Dragon King Cave, and the fifth is Sleeping Buddha Cave.

"Ningxia Fuzhi" in the Qing Dynasty records: "The stone wall of the Great Buddha Temple stands steeply, hollow like a pottery hole, and hundreds of people can sit in the large space. Because of the stone carvings, the Buddhist temples are all built on the mountain. Every night, monks light lamps and look far away. Like the stars hanging in the sky", in the Ming and Qing Dynasties, the Shikong Temple Grottoes were already one of the ten scenic spots in the area, and they were called "Stone Sky Night Lights" or "Stone Sky Lights". There is a poem praising Shikong Temple: "Who opens the orchid like a blue cloud in the overlapping peaks and exquisite stone sky? The monk sits quietly with a lamp at night, and sees a drop of red on the clear mountain from afar."

Around the eighth day of the fourth month of the lunar calendar, tourists and believers from all over the world gather here to worship Buddha, watch operas, do business, and go sightseeing.
