Xuanzang Temple is a Tang-style building, with square floor tiles exuding a sense of smoothness and simplicity. On the big wall outside the temple, there are three engraved pictures of Xuanzang's parade in the Western Regions and three inscriptions; on the left is the Japan-China friendship commemoration, in the middle is the biography of Master Xuanzang of the Tang Dynasty, and on the right is the Sino-Japanese Buddhist friendship and exchange monument. In addition, there are two stone statues in front of the gate, a big drum in front of the hall, and a wake-up bell for hammering on the stairs.
Xuanzang was an eminent monk in the Tang Dynasty. He was ordered by Emperor Taizong to go to India to learn scriptures. After more than ten years, he returned to China and wrote more than 650 volumes of scriptures. He and his disciples translated 75 volumes and obtained 1335 volumes. He contributed to the development of Buddhism in China. outstanding.
During the Sino-Japanese War, the Japanese robbed Master Xuanzang’s spiritual bone in Nanjing and enshrined it in Ci’en Temple, Saitama County, Japan. In 1955, the spiritual bone returned to China and enshrined it in Xuanguang Temple by the Sun Moon Lake, in November 1965. After the completion of Xuanzang Temple, the spiritual bones were moved into Xuanzang Temple.
