Tacheng Dian snub-nosed monkey National Park is located in Tacheng, the "Hometown of Reba Art" in the west of Shangri-La, about 62 kilometers away from Weixi County. The reserve has 8 groups of wild Dian snub-nosed monkeys under national protection, with a number of about 800-1000. The Yunnan snub-nosed monkey is a rare animal unique to Yunnan Province. It lives in the deep mountains at an altitude of 3,800-4,200 meters. In order to develop tourism, the scenic spot uses artificial feeding to attract monkeys down the mountain. The monkey viewing area of the park is located in the middle of the mountain at an altitude of about 3,000 meters. You can take the scenic environmental protection sightseeing bus at the entrance of the park to reach the monkey watching area directly. Every morning from 9:00 to 9:30 is the time for the rangers to feed, and it is also the best time to watch monkeys. The ranger whistled and threw out the cut fruits, which the golden monkeys rushed to eat, and then the ranger threw out the pine cones that the monkeys like. The feeding behavior lasted until close to 11 o'clock. Before that, the monkey watching area was very lively. After that, the monkeys would gradually move to the mountains to find more food. So if you come to the park after 11 o'clock, the chance of seeing a large number of golden monkeys is almost zero. If you want to watch these rare elves, you have to enter the park early in the morning. It is recommended to arrive in Tacheng Town in advance and stay overnight in the town. Although the town is not big, it has all kinds of accommodation and meals.
