Taiyuan Botanical Garden is a landscaping project determined by the Municipal Party Committee. It was selected into the third batch of PPP demonstration projects by the Ministry of Finance and won the Shanxi Provincial PPP Project Award for Improving Human Settlement Environment. The site is located at the foot of Taishan Mountain in Jinyuan District, from Fengyugoukou in the west to Jiujinci Road in the east, Fengyusha River in the north, and Taikoo Highway in the south, with a total area of ​​about 2,730 mu and a total investment of 3.558 billion yuan.

The overall plan of Taiyuan Botanical Garden is divided into five functional areas: entrance management area, plant science classification area, plant science application area, plant evolution display area, and scientific experiment area. The construction content includes the main entrance building, exhibition greenhouse, potted plant museum, waterfront restaurant and scientific research center, five major building areas and 25 special gardens. A total of more than 3000 species of plants were collected. The architectural design of the botanical garden project was completed by the internationally renowned design company DMAA Architectural Design Co., Ltd. in Austria and the German Valentin Urban Planning and Landscape Design Office. The landscape design was completed by the Beilin Landscape Garden Planning and Design Institute of Beijing Forestry University.

Taiyuan Botanical Garden takes the protection of species diversity, plant resources and historical resources in Shanxi Province as its mission. It collects plant resources in temperate regions mainly featuring plants in Taihang Mountain and Luliang Mountain, introduces and domesticates new and special varieties suitable for the local area, and gives full play to popular science and education. The building area of ​​the main entrance is 20,135 square meters, which incorporates the architectural style of the Shanxi courtyard. It is a comprehensive building integrating offices, plant science museum, herbarium, lecture hall, restaurant and tourist reception. Visitors can stand on the cantilever at the main entrance and overlook the entire botanical garden, and Mount Tai in the distance, with a panoramic view.

At the main entrance, there is also a botanical science museum and an insect specimen museum. The Botanical Science Museum covers an area of ​​4,300 square meters. The 118 educational popular science videos in the museum are all self-directed and filmed by our garden. The exhibition is mainly based on the theme of "living, fragrant and endless", divided into plant evolution (exploring the origin of plants), and plant mysteries. The Insect Herbarium displays more than 2,000 boxes (more than 4,000) of rare insects and other arthropod specimens. The height of the mountain body can reach 12 meters. Precipitous, steep cliffs, and at the same time deep canyons, waterfalls and gurgling streams, the overall layout is retractable and retractable, creating a natural and varied terrain. These node spaces are connected by sightseeing paths such as sinking bridges, plank roads, platforms, and stepping steps.

All kinds of typical tropical rainforest plants are arranged in the exhibition hall. The upper layer is dominated by tall trees, and the canopy is high above other tree layers, such as "standing out of a group of chickens". The middle layer is composed of medium and small trees, interspersed with epiphytic and climbing plants. Form a sky garden. The various types of ground cover and ferns in the lower layer vary in density, and the roots of large trees are intertwined and in different shapes. Stone carvings and petroglyphs reflecting the regional culture of the rainforest can be seen everywhere on the cliffs. You can also climb up the stairs, and thus enter the 5-meter-high aerial viewing platform, where you can have a panoramic view of the beautiful scenery. Clever use of high and low terrain to show typical landscapes of Asian tropical rainforest, American tropical rainforest and African tropical rainforest flora. The jungle is lush and green, with tall and dense tree crowns, and sky gardens made of epiphytic plants can be seen everywhere, colorful and full of spring scenery. The root systems of various plants are strange and unique, giving visitors an immersive tropical rainforest experience and feeling.

Waterfall viewing area

If you don't see the waterfall at the entrance, you can hear its sound first, and the winding road will appear in front of tourists in an instant. Taking the waterfall as the core landscape of the scenic spot, the waterfall has a height difference of 9 meters, cascading down, and is made of stone accumulation. The bonsai hall is divided into two floors.
