Tangla Angqu Peak, more than 6,000 meters above sea level, is located in Damxung County and belongs to the middle section of the Nyainqentanglha Mountains. According to legend, it is the "teacher" of Nyainqentanglha, and the local people also call it "Tanglabo". There is a river named "Angqu" on the south side of Tanggula Mountain, so people call this place "Tanglaangqu".
Because Tangla Angqu Peak is located in the hinterland, the Nyainqentanglha Mountains act as a barrier to block the cold current from the northwest and the warm current from the Indian Ocean. It basically has a semi-arid climate with annual precipitation between 200 and 400 mm. The rainy season in this area is from mid-May to mid-September every year, and snowstorms often occur in spring.
Tangla Angqu Peak is close to Namtso, and the weather is greatly affected by the lake. The weather changes every day and is very complicated. There are often various weather phenomena such as showers, hail, thunderstorms, and lightning during the day.
