The 16th to 20th caves are a group of caves excavated in Yungang in the early days. Because the eminent monk Tan Yao presided over the construction, they are called "Tan Yao Five Caves". The cave system is the same, the plane is horseshoe-shaped, and the dome is the top. The statues in the caves are mainly the Buddha of the third generation. . The Buddha statue is wearing a bobbin-style cassock of Baoyi with a drooping chest belt, which belongs to the clothing system during the Sinicization period of the Northern Wei Dynasty. The standing Buddha on the west wall has a round face and a simple and magnificent shape. The niche for statues in the 13th year of Taihe on the east wall of the Ming Window is an important yardstick for the Yungang Grottoes' staging and dating.
