The Tarim River is the largest inland river in China. It is formed by the confluence of the Aksu River originating in the Tianshan Mountains, the Yarkant River originating in the Karakorum Mountains, and the Hotan River, and then flows into Taitema Lake. Geographically, the Tarim River Basin includes 114 source streams of nine major river systems converging from the periphery of the Tarim Basin to the center, the main stream of the Tarim River, the Taklimakan Desert and the eastern desert area.

The water flow of the Tarim River varies greatly due to seasonal differences. Whenever it enters the hot summer, the snow and glaciers melt, and the flow of the river increases sharply, just like a "boundless wild horse" galloping and roaring through the desert and grassland. Many water conservancy facilities have been built in the Tahe River Basin. With the hard work of people of all ethnic groups, the former desert has become a mulberry field, and the banks of the Tahe River are full of melons and fruits, and the rice flowers are fragrant.
