The Tengchong Volcanic Group is located on the west side of Gongshan Mountain, the peak of the two sections of the Hengduan Mountain System. It is mainly distributed in the Heshun and Mazhan areas. It is a typical Quaternary volcano in southwest my country. Because it is located on the edge of the Eurasian plate, the crustal movement is active and earthquakes are frequent. When a severe earthquake occurs, landslides and water gushes out, and lava spews out of the surface. After the earthquake stops, the lava cools down, forming volcanoes with unique shapes. Within an area of more than 100 square kilometers around the county seat, there are more than 70 volcanoes shaped like upside-down iron pots, and Tengchong County is located on the lava flowing out of Laifeng Mountain Volcano. Near Mazhan Village, more than 10 kilometers northwest of the county seat, volcanoes are relatively concentrated. Heikongshan and Dakongshan volcanic groups are arranged in a line from north to south, with a distance of about 1,000 meters. There is a volcano park. Near the crater, tourists can also pick up volcanic stones in gray, red, black and other colors as souvenirs. This kind of volcanic stone has a very light specific gravity, so it is called "pumice". A very large piece can be lifted lightly by a person and thrown into the water without sinking. The natural law that people say "the stone sinks into the sea" does not work here.
