Qianhu Lake is located in the north of Hemu Township. It is called "Menqiongkur" in Kazakh, which means 1000 pits. Qianhu is composed of lakes in the middle mountain zone of the watershed between the Karasu Aren River and the Geya Anengerku River, with an altitude of 2160-2500 meters. There are thousands of large and small lakes dotted among them.

The larger of these lakes is Black Lake. Located in the grazing area on the east side of Kanas Lake, Black Lake is in the shape of a horse's head, covering an area of 1.2 square kilometers, with an average water depth of 5 meters and pure black water. Because it is not a river, and there is no water outlet, the organisms in the lake are rotting and fermenting, and the water has a smell, so it can be regarded as a "strong wine lake". There are also small lake groups such as Karaqiongkur, Keskur, Xiahenuoer, etc., which are large in number and small in size. They are round or long in shape, and their distribution height gradually increases from south to north.

The lake group is the result of ancient glaciers, developed from depressions such as ancient ice cirques, ice kilns and grain snow basins. The lake water comes from melted ice and snow and local precipitation, all of which are freshwater lakes. The annual average temperature in the lake area is -4°C, and the annual rainfall is about 800 cm. The lakes freeze over in December every winter and thaw in May.
