The Three Gorges Museum is located on the west side of the People's Square in Chongqing. There are tens of thousands of cultural relics such as Bashu bronzes and Han Dynasty sculptures in the museum, showing the development history of this mountain city. In the "Magnificent Three Gorges" exhibition hall in the museum, a large number of objects from the Three Gorges reservoir area are also collected, which truly reproduces the original appearance of the Three Gorges.

The funnel-shaped circular dome directly above the museum building is like a huge dew-bearing plate, which means "the water of the Three Gorges comes from the sky". The exterior wall is made of large areas of blue glass and primitive sandstone. The blue glass symbolizes water, while the sandstone exterior wall represents mountains.

The Three Gorges Museum is divided into four floors, mainly composed of 360-degree ring-screen movies, 4 basic exhibitions ("The Magnificent Three Gorges", "Far Ancient Chongqing", "Chongqing City Road", "The Years of Anti-Japanese War") and 6 special exhibitions, etc. composition.

The 360-degree ring-screen digital movie on the first floor shows the natural scenery and cultural customs of the Three Gorges before the reservoir area was impounded, and is a permanent memorial to the Three Gorges. The "Magnificent Three Gorges" exhibition hall has collected a large number of real objects in the Three Gorges reservoir area, which truly reproduces the original appearance of the Three Gorges.

"Far Ancient Chongqing" on the second floor shows the ancient civilization of Chongqing, tracing its 3,000-year-old cultural roots, and "Chongqing·City Road" shows the urban changes of Chongqing in the past century with a large number of cultural relics.

The "Chongqing Bombing Half-Scene Painting Exhibition Hall" on the third floor reproduces the historical events of the Chongqing Bombing through modern technological means, sculptures, oil paintings and other forms. "The Years of Anti-Japanese War" shows the contributions and sacrifices made by the city of Chongqing and the people of Chongqing to the Anti-Japanese War with many detailed materials.

On the fourth floor, thousands of precious cultural relics of various colors are displayed in the exhibition of calligraphy and painting, porcelain, coins and sculptures of the Han Dynasty, including the famous "storytelling figurines", "Bayu divine bird", "Wuyang Hanque" and other precious cultural relics. The Southwest Ethnic Folk Customs Hall displays the folk customs and cultures of all ethnic groups in the Southwest.
