Tuosu means "butter lake" in Mongolian. Tuosu Lake is a typical inland saltwater lake. The lake is surrounded by vast Gobi Desert. The temperature is high, the evaporation of the lake water is large, the salt content in the water increases, and there are few aquatic animals and plants and phytoplankton. Tuosu Lake has a vast surface and open shores, without any shelter or barriers. When the weather is calm, the lake is full of smoke and waves, and the water and sky are the same color, which is magnificent; when the weather changes, the lake is choppy, the waves splash, and the sound of the shore is breathtaking.
In the early spring of every year, fish gulls, brown-headed gulls, and wild ducks come to gather on the bird island in Tuosu Lake. The bird island of Tuosu Lake covers an area of about one square kilometer. There are thousands of birds on the island. The whole island is full of nests and eggs. It is simply a "paradise for birds" and "a world for eggs". Tosu Lake is located in the south of Crook Lake, and together with Crook Lake, it is called Talian Lake, and the Qinghai-Tibet Railway passes through the middle of the two lakes.
